Why we built this

The founding team comes from law, applied AI, and insurance. Across those fields, the same pattern: the decisions that matter most are made early, before the evidence is in, and the methods used to revisit them are slow and ad hoc. Insurance claims are the cleanest example. A reserve is set on day one; eighteen months later the file settles for several times the estimate, and nobody can reconstruct which assumption broke.

What we built

Canotera adds calibrated forecasts to that workflow: point estimates, conformal ranges, comparable cases, and traceable drivers. Language models do the reading; a separate set of mathematical models, trained on resolved cases, produces the prediction.
